Does it matter that the housebuilding industry knowingly installs, damages, and replaces hundreds of thousands of concrete kerbs each year?

Site managers regularly tell us that they expect to replace 50% to 100% of kerbs during the course of building a housing estate. And high risk areas on corners and radiuses will often be replaced two or three times over.

In 2015, the cement industry generated around 2.8 billion tonnes of CO², 8% of the World total. This makes the global cement industry the world’s third largest emitter of CO². If the industry were a country, it would only be surpassed by the total CO² output of China and the USA! BBC News

If cutting carbon emissions is a stated objective of your company, consider not only the enormous financial savings but also the environmental benefits of halving the amount of concrete kerbs you use.

Less carbon production, less fuel used by site plant and haulage lorries, and less tipping to landfill. Plus a better finished job by protecting rather than replacing the original kerbs.
